Does a certain modem actually make a difference on your internet speed?

Does a modem make your internet faster? Or do you get whatever speed your isp provides. It’s kind of hard to explain what I’m asking. Basically is there a modem that will boost internet speed if so where could I look for some.

Generally not, although better routers may have less latency than more basic models the actual download rates shouldn’t differ.

    It’s their server problem

You cannot tweak your modem, but there are programs to do so, if you can believe their blurbs.
If you Google around, you will find something.

Unless your ISP service is offering fast broadband (20+ mbps) then no. And if they are, then you should of been given a docsis 3.0 router anyways
