As long as you have boardband internet. Speed above 128kps and up connection speed will work but it is recommend to have at least a 2.5mbs connection speed for lagfree gaming. If you are planning to host a game or have more than 16+ player in an online shooter with a hugh map, than you probably need a faster connection, anything above 8mbs. will do, but the faster the better.
online gaming needs about 2mb minimum to function properly.
wired provides best connection, although wireless is OK, sufficient but not great.
also, on 2mb if others are using the connection it will slow down and cause you to lag. if you have other people sharing then something like 8-10mb is better.
